Youngsters from Children 1st @ St Peter & St Paul on Hady Hill, Calow, raised the money by taking part in the Barnardo’s Big Toddle.

The theme of this year’s toddle was ‘The Teletubbies’ and children from the nursery were invited to dress in Teletubby themed costumes or colours.

As getting close to nature also formed part of the theme, the staff made sure the big toddle started in the nature area where the children could see everything that was happening on a lovely sunny day.

The nursery is fortunate to be set in beautiful grounds and so after exploring the nature area, the Teletubby toddlers continued their nature walk around the play area and the tree lined field.

Children and staff from Children 1st @ St Peter and St Paul were on hand to present Barnardo’s with a cheque for the money raised. Helen Evans, Barnardo’s regional relationships manager (fundraising), accepted the cheque on behalf of the charity.

Commenting on the children’s achievement, Helen said: “Events such as this play a vital role in our fundraising efforts. I am delighted that the children went to so much effort for the Big Toddle and that parents, friends and family gave so generously to support them and Barnardo’s.”

Laura Wildin, manager of Children 1st @ St Peter and St Paul added: “The children love taking part in the Big Toddle and it was brilliant to see so many Teletubbies walking through the nursery grounds and enjoying the great outdoors on a lovely day. Thanks to all parents and staff who made the day possible and to Barnardo’s for the tireless work they do in helping vulnerable children across the country.”
