Toby Perkins secures second term with resounding win in Chesterfield
The overnight count at Chesterfield’s Queen’s Park Sports Centre saw the MP returned for a second term in the early hours of this morning, Friday, May 8, with 21,829 votes.
Mr Perkins who first became MP in 2010 when he narrowly took the seat from the Lib Dems was however disappointed with Labour’s disappointing results and lack of gains nationally.

Hide AdHe said: “In what appears to be a difficult night for the Party, the people of Chesterfield have spoken about the record of the Labour Party in Chesterfield.”
Conservative Mark Vivis received 8,231 votes in second place followed by UKIP’s Stuart Yeowart with 7,523 votes.
Lib Dem candidate Julia Cambridge received 6,301 votes as she suffered a disappointing night finishing fourth overall.
Green Matt Genn got 1,352 votes.
TUSC’s Matt Whale got 202 votes and Peace Party member Tommy Holgate got 129 votes.
