Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Wednesday, January 13, how Matthew Pritty, 29, of Lime Grove, Darley Dale, Matlock, had been at Harry’s Bar in the town when he attacked the man.

“They said the defendant was goading them and they were trying to ignore him and they refused to engage in a conversation.

“But suddenly without warning Pritty head butted one of them causing his lip to split and bleed.”

Pritty was thrown out by door staff, according to Mr Chapman, and police were called because the defendant was hanging around outside the club.

The defendant was arrested and was given an opportunity to explain his actions but declined to make any comment.

Pritty, who has a previous conviction for assault, pleaded guilty to the assault at Harry’s Bar which happened on December 19, last year.

Defence solicitor Bertie Mather said: “The defendant had been on a work do and had been drinking since 6pm.

“It’s accepted he had a large amount to drink and had not been out drinking since a previous incident dating back to 2014.

“He was not used to drinking but accepts there was an incident and it’s something her regrets considerably.”
