A CHILD and his grandparents were taken to hospital after being injured in a three car collision.

The cars - a silver Toyota Yaris, a grey Ford Fiesta and a silver Renault Clio - collided on Chesterfield Road at Shirland at around half past one on the afternoon of Wednesday April 27.

The boy allegedly managed to escape from the car, but his grandparents needed to be cut free from the vehicle by fire crews.

All three were taken to Chesterfield Royal Hospital. Police were also in attendance, and the road was closed for some time.
