Carl Padley was observed by Derbyshire Constabulary’s North Division Football Unit taking part in antagonistic behaviour at Chesterfield FC matches in the 2015/16 season.

In particular Padley was seen engaging in anti-social behaviour and public disorder at fixtures involving England, Sheffield United and Millwall.

The 31-year-old Chesterfield fan of Meadow View, Holmewood, was handed a three-year banning order at Chesterfield Justice Centre.

He cannot attend any regulated football fixtures, including any 2018 World Cup fixtures in Russia.

In a separate case, John Lawson and Carl Hale were each given four-year banning orders in July for taking part in football-related disorder, again at Chesterfield home and away fixtures.

They were observed over a number of months by Derbyshire’s Football Unit and the evidence led to the banning orders being given.

Lawson, 37, of Blandford Drive, Chesterfield, and 29-year-old Hale, of Salisbury Avenue, Chesterfield, are now banned for four years.

All three men must also surrender their passports when the England national football team plays fixtures abroad.

Inspector Rob Bowns, who is in charge of the North Division Football Unit, said: “Our mission is to improve and enhance the match day experience for all supporters at Chesterfield Football Club.

“To help us do this, members of our team are seconded to the England national overseas policing team so we can monitor the behaviour of local supporters who travel abroad for games.

“It should serve as a reminder that the behaviour of supporters is monitored not only at domestic fixtures but at overseas games, too.

“Football violence is simply unacceptable and it will not be tolerated. Law-abiding football fans do not deserve to have their experience tainted by the actions of the few. Fans should be confident that they can attend matches in a safe and pleasant environment.

“We always pursue banning orders when we can and these three banning orders show the lengths we will go to, to prevent football-related anti-social behaviour and public disorder”.

Anyone with any information about football related disorder or anti-social behaviour should contact the police on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Information you provide could help officers to prevent disorder and keep football matches safe.
