The facilities we had access to were simply first rate.”

4. Peak Edge Hotel, near Chesterfield

Having been a regional hotel manager for a few decades ~before deciding to retire~ I am quite picky when it comes to spending my own money in hotels, but at Peak Edge it’s a pleasure.”

5. Coach House Hotel, Melbourne

Sue W, of Castrol Marim, says: “I stayed four nights in this charming B&B. Everything was of the highest standard and very clean. The bed gave me the best nights sleep I have had for a long time. Although the rooms are not that large they are very well equiped and the breakfast was brilliant.”

7. Premier Inn Chesterfield West Hotel, Chesterfield

Ross T, of Rossendale, says: “Stayed here for one night on business. Great location just on the edge of the Peak District but still close enough to Chesterfield. For me this is 3 star bordering on 4 star hotel. Very quiet nice rooms, good bed and nice bathroom. Food was very good and the staff were polite. Would certainly stay here again.”

8. Melbourne View Hotel, Melbourne

J1812 says: “I have stayed at Melbourne View Hotel a number of times over the last few years, and I have always been very impressed by the quality of the food, the comfort of the rooms and the excellent service. It strives to provide everything that a small hotel should, combined with a warm welcome and excellent service.”

9. Abbeydale Hotel, Chesterfield

Sue Y, of Florence, Italy, says: “I have recently stayed at the Abbeydale Hotel in Chesterfield. Else and Finn went out of their way to make me feel welcome, even going the extra mile and making me a light supper when their restaurant was closed. They were accommodating and welcomed my family and grandchildren as early as breakfast time! Breakfasts were delicious.”

10. Portland Hotel, Chesterfield
