Supermarket staff are putting on the kettle so residents can a drink on them to try and combat loneliness.
Tesco, on Mill St, Clowne will be holding a free coffee morning tomorrow, Thursday, December 10 between 12 and 2pm.
Press manager for the store Matthew Jackson, 27, said: “We know that being lonely affects people young and old so we are throwing open our doors and inviting people to join us for a get to know you session.
“If people live alone they go days with out talking but we want people to know that it doesn’t have to be this way and are providing hot drinks and mince pies for people who would like someone to chat with for a couple of hours.”
While the event is free donations will be taken to help support Tesco’s two charities, Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation.
