BIG-HEARTED teens ran a café to boost a disabled children’s charity.

Those on the ‘Bridge’ programme - for 16 to 18-year-olds who are not in education, employment or training – proudly handed over £95 to Fairplay after their open day event with raffle.

Heather Fawbert, project manager of Fairplay, said: “The young people did a fabulous job running “Le Bridge” café in the centre. They waited on tables, took orders and served a mouth-watering selection of cakes.”

And the day was such a success Le Bridge Café will reopen on Wednesday August 24, from 2-3pm, at the Peter Webster Centre in Chesterfield.

Fairplay provides activities and support to hundreds of children or young people with disabilities across North Derbyshire.

The Derbyshire Times is backing its appeal to build a unique new activity garden at its Chesterfield home.

Derbyshire County Council’s Bridge programme means qualifications can be gained in various areas.
