These services had previously been commissioned by Tameside and Glossop Primary Care Trust until April when the county council took over responsibility for public health.

Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council agreed to take on the commissioning function and continue it for 12 months until March this year to ensure a smooth transition and allow sufficient time to re-procure services.

It will continue working with the county council to ensure Glossop residents receive public health services as the transition process continues over the coming financial year to March 2015.

Services available to Glossopdale residents include breastfeeding support, weight management programmes, health checks for people aged 40 to 74, stop smoking services, falls prevention for older people, sexual health and substance misuse support.
