'Suspicious man' seen near Ilkeston school was a street drinker

The school on King George Avenue text parents last Wednesday morning to inform them about the suspect male.

"Students must report any concerns to staff," the text added.

But on Monday, Derbyshire police confirmed: "Officers checked it out and increased patrols but it transpired that it was a local street drinker rather than anything untoward."
