Suspended term over naked snaps

A JAIL sentence hangs over a Renishaw man who posted naked pictures of his ex-partner around a golf course after she ended their relationship.

Gary Barber, who put similar pictures on the internet, must also pay £1,000 compensation for the humiliation he caused her.

He sent her an email link to a website containing 25 pictures of her posing naked in “intimate positions”, Chesterfield magistrates heard.

Mike Treharne, prosecuting, said some of the pictures were posted around a golf club in Bury. He added: “This was humiliating and devastating for her.”

Barber, 46, committed the offences between April 1 and April 30 after starting a new job as a steward at Renishaw Park golf club in January. Barber, of Renishaw Park golf club, Mill Lane, Renishaw, admitted harassment. He received a 20-week jail term, suspended for a year. He was also given 120 hours unpaid work, a one-year probation supervision order, a three-year restraining order banning him from contacting her, and a £1000 compensation bill, with £85 costs.

District Judge Andrew Davison said it was a “particularly nasty” case of harassment. He said it was a serious breach of trust to publicise photographs taken when Barber and his ex partner were in an intimate relationship.

Matt Evans, for Barber, said: “It was a dark period for him. He took the breakdown of the relationship very badly. He was in drink when he sent the messages.”
