WORK on a new surgery in Inkersall has been postponed.
Holywell Medical Group has written to Staveley Town Council to say the building has come to a standstill.
In a letter to the council Dr Steve Bradder, practice director, said the main contactors for the development had become insolvent and are seeking voluntary liquidation.
The medical group hope to appoint a new contractor soon and the new surgery is now programmed to open later in the year.
Dr Bradder raised concerns about the exposed site being vandalised or being treated as a “playground”.
He added: his maintenance manager was checking the site daily and a security company was carrying out night time patrols.
“This is a very frustrating time for us but rest assured that I am doing my utmost to get work restarted and the surgery finished as soon as possible,” he said.
