Around 50 jobs could be created as two new businesses are set to be built at Chesterfield’s Ravenside Retail Park.
Phase three of the park’s development is underway with plans to open a Hobbycraft and ASDA Living store by next summer.
Land Securities, owner of the site, off Markham Road, was granted permission last month.
Donal McCabe, of the firm, said: “Over the last 18 months to two years we have attracted the likes of Debenhams to the site, showing that we are serious about maintaining the retail park’s attraction to the people of Chesterfield.
“This is just a further extension of that.”
Planning permission was granted for the redevelopment of this part of the site back in 2006 with detailed plans for the two retail units passed in July.
Mr McCabe said the scheme also included 65 new car parking spaces, a footpath link, landscaping and new access to the site.
Derbyshire Times Facebook friends logged on to give their views on the development.
Rachel Stretch Armstrong said: “Have they considered the traffic getting in and out? It’s a nightmare as it is.”
Joanne Mark added: “Great news. More jobs for local people .”
Karen Robinson said: “That’s great news, it’s so good to hear it’ll finally not be long before we have a Hobbycraft nearer than the Meadowhall Retail Park.”
Charlotte Deane added: “This sounds great. Chesterfield is getting more and more shops I’d like to go to.”
