Images show the silver Volvo on on its side in the river next to Queen's Walk.

Neighbour Andrew Allison, who took the photographs of the car said he thought the vehicle had been stolen from North Street in Langwith and then driven around the village, hitting a parked car at the top of Fairfield Close before ploughing into the river on Queens Walk.

The vehicle has now been removed using a tow truck.
