John Heald, director of Everard Cole, said: "While known for its industrial heritage, Staveley is a popular and busy market town.

"The former Elm Tree site is ideally situated close to the numerous local shops, restaurants and pubs in the town, the Healthy Living Leisure Centre and Morrisons supermarket.

"With a growing population of over 18,000 the development will help meet the housing requirements of the area."
