OUR county’s best-loved stately home saw the launch of its 2012 season today – following a multi-million pound restoration makeover.
Home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, Chatsworth House was revealed to the public without scaffolding for the first time since work began on the South and West facades 12 months ago.
As part of a continuing £14m conservation project, stonework on the two most visible facades underwent extensive repair and cleaning, restoring the house it its original glory after 300 years.
The attraction will reopen to the public this Sunday.
