Star names bound for Chesterfield’s Pomegranate and Winding Wheel

Starry, starry nights are on the cards for north Derbyshire theatregoers with the launch of a new season of entertainment.

Shobna Gulati, fresh from BBC1 drama In The Club, teams up with Joe McGann (The Upper Hand) in the comedy April in Paris at the Pomegranate Theatre, Chesterfield, next week.

Leading Elvis impersonator Lee Memphis King will take centre stage in Rock ‘n’ Roll Heaven, which runs at the town’s Winding Wheel from September 15 to 20.

The great detective Hercule Poirot is on the case in Agatha Christie’s Black Coffee, which will be staged at the Pomegranate, from September 29 to October 4. Jason Durr who played PC Mike Bradley in TV’s retro crime series Heartbeat takes on the role of the super sleuth.

With Strictly Come Dancing back on TV, there will be big interest in this year’s panto at the Pomegranate. Camilla Dallerup, who won Strictly in 2008, stars as Fairy Godmother in Cinderella, from December 5 to January 4.
