PRODUCTION company, Paul Holman Associates, has been appointed to present this year’s spectacular pantomime ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ at Chesterfield’s Pomegranate Theatre. The move comes after the existing production company, Bruce James Productions, ceased trading on April 30.

Chesterfield Borough Council secured the nationally acclaimed company to take over from Bruce James Productions within days of hearing that they would no longer be producing this year’s show.

Cllr Nick Stringer, executive member for leisure, culture and tourism said: “It’s extremely sad that Bruce James Productions has ceased trading as we’ve enjoyed many excellent shows for a number of years from this company and they will be missed. However, we’re delighted to have secured Paul Holman Associates to produce this year’s pantomime and we’re sure their outstanding reputation and experience will deliver a high quality show for residents and visitors.”

This will be the first production at the Chesterfield theatre for Paul Holman Associates. The company, which was established over 20 years ago, has a successful and established track record in producing pantomimes.

With a back catalogue of over 200 pantomime productions and having worked with some of the biggest names in show business, the importance of presenting pantomime for chief executive Paul Holman has always been to create a show which everyone can enjoy regardless of age.

He explained: “We’re creating a show for the Pomegranate which really will have something for everyone. Musically, we’re arranging songs that children, teenagers and mums and dads will be familiar with and for grandparents there’ll be a song or two they’re sure to know.

“Comedy will of course be paramount, with plenty of slapstick, audience participation, the traditional ghost gag and the essential song-sheet. In terms of the cast, all the characters from Dame Trott and Daisy the Cow to Giant Blunderbore and Jack will be on stage to tell the tale of good over evil, in an action-packed, fast paced story line.”

‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ will be an energetic and engaging pantomime with spectacular scenery, colourful costumes, creative choreography, an up-to-date script and a live band topped off with a carefully chosen cast. This giant production will be raising the Pomegranate roof from December 7 until January 6 2013 and promises to be a production that’s as fresh as a daisy and is certain to leave audiences full of beans!
