Spireites supporters are being encouraged to pay tribute to a young fan who tragically passed away.

Supporters are being asked to join in a round of applause for 12-year-old Abbie Jacques in the 12th minute of Saturday's game against Exeter City at the Proact.

Abbie's father Ian and younger brother Charlie, who often attended matches with her, have been invited to the game, along with other family members.

An image of Abbie will be shown on the big screen inside the stadium in the 12th minute and there will also be a tribute in the matchday programme.

The hashtag #applause4abbie will be used on Twitter to encourage others to share the message and help raise awareness of the tribute.

Abbie’s funeral was held yesterday at St Lawrence Church in North Wingfield.

A statement on the club's website said: "Our sincere condolences go to Abbie’s family and friends at this time."
