The majority of Spireites supporters will probably have left the Proact feeling deflated after Sunday’s 4-1 defeat to rivals Sheffield United.
But one Chesterfield fan got the perfect result he was hoping for.
Spireites fan Karl Millington would have been more nervous than most as the game approached half-time.
And it wasn’t down to the fact the home side were edging the derby match against the Blades 1-0.
It was because Karl had arranged to use the club’s electronic scoreboard to ask his partner Laura Martin to marry him during the 15-minute break.
“Laura, please will you marry me?” said the message alongside a picture of the couple.
Thankfully, Karl’s blushes were spared in front of more than 8,000 people as Laura said yes!
The only downside on the day was the final result: Chesterfield 1 v 4 Sheffield United.
