The big day has finally arrived!

Thousands of Spireites fans are bound for Wembley to cheer on Chesterfield in their Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash against Peterborough.

It is the second time in three years the Spireites have travelled to the national stadium – and fans will be hoping for a repeat performance of 2012 when the team beat Swindon 2-0 to lift the coveted trophy.

Messages of support for the Spireites are flooding into the DT newsroom.

Michaela Fairlee said: “Good luck Chesterfield! Bring that trophy home!”

Charlotte Deane said: “Good luck guys. Give us a win so my hubby-to-be is happy! We’re getting married next Friday but have afforded to come down and watch!”

Tracey Winfield said: “Good luck guys and make this town proud. I predict a 3-2 win for Chesterfield with the last goal in the last seven minutes.”

The match starts at 2pm – and the weather looks set to be beautiful with temperatures topping 20C.
