Spate of Chesterfield muggings in one night

A two-man team is wanted by police after a spate of street robberies in Chesterfield.

Officers said two robberies took place in the early hours of Friday morning.

A man was walking along Highfield Avenue at 3am and approached by two men demanding cash.

Police said: “They grabbed him from behind and demanded that he hand over money. They stole a small amount of cash and ran off.”

In a second incident, a man was approached in Abercrombie Street by men who stole his wallet.

A third attack was reported to the Derbyshire Times. It was believed to have taken place in Newbold Road on Thursday night and involved a knife.

One of the men was described as mixed race and one was wearing a black top with long sleeves, black gloves and a black hat.
