Spate of black cats disappear in Chesterfield
Five black cats have vanished in Chesterfield just days before Christmas.
Kayleigh Hannah, 23, of Grangewood, is desperate for her two-year-old puss George to be home for the festive season.
He disappeared on Wednesday of last week and since then Kayleigh says she has been in contact with four other people living within a mile of her whose cats have also gone missing.
The absent animals are all black, all male and all neutered.
Kayleigh said: "It's a really sad time.
"I'm not sure what's happened to George and the others.
"As well as being black, male and neutered, all of the missing cats don't stray too far from home.
"It's a mystery about what's happened to them - it's weird.
"I've spoken to the police but they say there's no evidence foul play is involved so they can't investigate further
"I hope they all end up back home safe and sound very soon in time for Christmas."
Police launched an investigation amid fears they were snatched in a targeted campaign.
Kayleigh is aware of this article.
"Is what's happening all a coincidence?" she asked.
"We just don't know."
She added: "George is a big part of my family and I miss him so much.
"He's a lovely cat.
"I always think about him, I always look for him.
"I'm trying not to give up hope of finding him"
George, who is pictured above, has three fangs and has three strands of white hair on his underbelly.
He is microchipped and was last seen wearing a red tartan collar.
Anyone who knows of George's whereabouts should call Kayleigh immediately on 07856751661.
