FIREFIGHTERS rescued a driver after the car she was driving left the road and crashed into a hedge.

The woman had been driving along Garner Lane, South Wingfield, about 8pm, on Friday, April 12, when the collision happened.

A Derbyshire fire service spokesman said: “One saloon car left the road and was found sitting on top of a hedge row.

“A female casualty was trapped in the vehicle.”

Alfreton and Crich firefighters stabilised the vehicle and helped free the trapped woman within half-an-hour.

Crews also commenced first aid before an ambulance arrived to attend to the casualty.
