A burglar has been jailed for two-and-a-half years after DNA at the scene linked him to the crime.
Richard Cano was sentenced to 32 months for pleading guilty to burgling a home in Bolehill, Wirksworth, on November 20, 2015.
A couple returned to their house to find a dining room window had been smashed and a phone, TV, laptop and watches stolen.
Traces of blood were found and crime scene investigators were sent to the house to gather evidence.
The blood matched that of Cano, 35, of Parks Avenue, South Wingfield, and he was arrested.
He was sentenced at Derby Crown Court last week.
