Inspectors from Ofsted commended the head, staff and governors at Frederick Gent School for making many positive changes since the last inspection, especially in improving behaviour and attendance.

They also praised the school’s senior leaders and governors for bringing about improvements which have led to stronger leadership, better lesson planning and higher levels of achievement.

In the monitoring report issued by Ofsted this week, inspector Zarina Connolly said: “You have quickly acted upon the key areas for improvement identified in the last inspection. You have accurately identified the schools’ strengths and areas for improvement. “

Headteacher Julie Broadbent said: “We are extremely pleased with the report from our recent monitoring and inspection.

“We understand we still have a way to go to become “good”, but by putting learning back at the heart of school, we have been able to take quick action to address our areas of weakness.”
