Solar farm given the green light

A solar farm on land near the A617 dual carriageway at Temple Normanton has been given planning approval.

North East Derbyshire District Council last week passed plans for the solar farm, which will provide power for nearly 1,300 homes over a 25-year period.

Work on the development is expected to start within the next three years, council planners said.

The site of the solar farm, which lies to the northern side of the A617 between Sutton Spring woods and Temple Normanton, is 10.98 hectares and is currently poor agricultural land which is used for grazing.
