SNOW UPDATE: Snow and ice leads to third day of disruption in Buxton and High Peak

Snow and ice is continuing to cause disruption on roads in the High Peak and Hope Valley.

Heavy snowfall, coupled with strong winds, has forced the closure of most high-level routes and disrupted local public transport services.

As of 9pm tonight (Sunday), Derbyshire County Council was reporting the following road closures: A53 Axe Edge, Buxton to Leek; A54/A537 Cat and Fiddle Buxton to Macclesfield; A57 Snake Pass; A515 Buxton to Newhaven; A5270 Chelmorton near Buxton; A6024 towards Holme Moss; A624 Chinley Head, between Chinley and Hayfield; A625 Rushup Edge; B5055 Bakewell to Monyash; B5470 Coalpit Lane; B6015 Torside, Glossop to A628; B5047 Whaley Bridge to Macclesfield; B6049 Bradwell Dale; Cressbrook; Crowdicote; Earl Sterndale; Edale and Mam Nick Road; Eldon Hill Road; Eyam to Foolow; Foolow; Froggat Edge (top end above Chequers); Great Hucklow; Great Longstone (A6020 to Monsal Head); High Needham; Litton; Peak Dale (Sydney Hill and Monkey Brew); Mellor Road, New Mills; Monks Road, Charlesworth, Glossop; Martinside, Dove Holes; Smalldale to Peak Forest; Wardlow Mires (Wardlow to Monsal Head); Winnats Pass, Castleton; Wormhill; Rakes Lane and The Avenue − Tissington; Moor Lane, Church Lane and Quilow Lane - Osmaston & Wyaston; Muggington Lane End (Cross o’th’ Hands to Weston Underwood).
