Buxton proved it knows how to put on a show as visitors flocked to the town in droves on bank holiday Monday for the second annual spring fair.

The event, organised by Buxton Town Team, saw stalls, activities and entertainment of all kinds throughout the town centre, encompassing Spring Gardens, the Crescent, the Slopes, the Market Place, High Street, the Square and the bowling green area.

With over 200 stalls, the fair was around 50 per cent bigger than last year’s inaugural event, and there were also a number of new attractions this year, including donkey rides outside the town hall.

There was music at a number of venues across the town, including the Pump Room roof, and a number of local pubs. Buxton’s famous Billerettes, Buxton Drama League, Chapel Morris Men and High Peak Samba were among the other performers who entertained the crowds.

Volunteer organiser Janet Miller said: “It went really well. The weather was kind to us and lots of people turned out. The feedback we’ve had has been hugely positive and everyone we’ve spoken to said they had a really good time.

“We’ve had a lot of really nice comments back from people about how well they did and how busy they were, not just the stall holders but the shops too.”

Janet added that the Town Team would like to thank everyone who helped with the event in any way.
