Chippings put down this morning on the A61 Derby Road have been causing cars to skid.

A Derbyshire County Council spokesman said: "Drivers should heed the warning signs and travel at no more than 10mph to avoid skidding and throwing up loose chippings.

"We always put up signs warning motorists to take extra care when we dress the surface of one of our roads.

"It generally takes around 24 hours for the chippings to bed in."
