Shopping trip breached motoring ban

A TRIP to buy cigarettes ended in a court appearance for a Chesterfield man who was banned from driving.

Moyley Wildish was approached by police after he parked a Vauxhall Astra near a shop in Derby Road on February 16.

Town magistrates heard that he received a two-year driving ban in January 2010 with a condition that he passed an extended test.

“He said the vehicle was his partner’s and she was not aware he had taken it. He thought his ban had ended,” said Fernando Rodrigues, prosecuting.

Wildish, 25, of Heath Court, St Augustines Crescent, admitted driving while disqualified and without insurance and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.

He had previous convictions for dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

He received a one-year probation supervision order and 40 hours unpaid work, with £85 costs. A new, one-year road ban was imposed and he must still pass an extended test before driving while unsupervised.
