Shoppers in Chesterfield were invited to vote for their favourite market traders in a competition run by the borough council.
This proved very popular with lots of entries and was an extremely close fought competition.
Fruit and vegetable business W. Ayres were delighted to win the title of ‘Favourite Market Stall’ for the outdoor market.
Charles Ferne of W Ayres was presented with a certificate and prize by the Mayor of Chesterfield Cllr Don Parsons at a presentation during the Arts and Market Festival.
Cllr Don Parsons, Mayor of Chesterfield said: ““The number of entries we had for the competition was fantastic and shows that there is still an awful lot of support for Chesterfield Market. Many shoppers have loyally supported the traders for a number of years and we are also attracting new customers with the quality, value for money and fresh local produce which Chesterfield Market can offer”.
During the festival, Elliott’s butchers won the best sausage competition for the fourth year running, ahead of Meadow Fresh in runner-up position and Robert Bowring third.
The mayor presented a certificate to Stephen Elliott, owner of the business.
