Shoebox appeal helps give kids a Christmas

Staff from Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust are supporting the world’s largest children’s Christmas project, Operation Christmas Child.

The campaign encourages people to donate shoeboxes containing simple gifts, which can be given to children in need throughout Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe.

Ali Tuckley, of the trust, has led the appeal. She said: “I love supporting this unique and worthwhile project, and I’m happy to have been able to coordinate the trust’s efforts.

“I’m particularly grateful to all those who have donated as we have had a tremendous response this year from staff and patients. It really highlights how much people care.”

In the four years the trust has supported the appeal, staff and patients have donated over 63 shoeboxes with toys and gifts for youngsters aged between two and 14 years old.
