SHIREBROOK: Miners Welfare UNISON ‘B’ band participate in civic procession and service

On Sunday afternoon Shirebrook Miners Welfare UNISON ‘B’ band, led by musical director Graham Buckley, provided the music for the civic processions and the hymns at Bolsover District Council’s annual civic cervice in Holy Trinity Church, Shirebrook.

Council chairman Mr Ken Walker and council chief executive Mr Wes Lumley read the lessons and the Rev Canon Helen Guest, Rural Dean for Bolsover and Staveley Deanery, conducted the service.

During the service Sally Dodds sang two items namely ‘The Lord Is My Shepherd’ and ‘Ave Maria’.

Several county, district and local dignitaries were also in attendance.

A collection was taken and proceeds are to be divided between the chairman’s chosen charities - Prostate Cancer and Holy Trinity Church.
