SHIREBROOK: Busy weekend for Miners Welfare UNISON band

Shirebrook Miners Welfare UNISON band played two concerts over the last weekend.

On Friday evening the band played at The Sutton Centre, Sutton In Ashfield and on Saturday evening the band played at Forest Town Welfare.

On both occasions the band was led by musical director Mark Wilcockson and both concerts were virtually identical in content ranging from traditional brass band music to music from the ever popular ‘Last Night At The Proms’.

Solo contributions from band members Glenn Birks (cornet), Mark Brimble (soprano cornet) and Roy Briscoe (flugel horn) were part and parcel of the two concerts.

At the Forest Town concert a group of male singers entitled ‘The Gentlemen’ gave a short performance of popular ballads.
