A man was taken to hospital after a serious smash in Ashover.
The air ambulance and police were called to the crash at the junction of Wirestone Lane and the B5057 at about 2.10pm on Bank Holiday Monday.
The collision involved a black Honda Civic and a white Volkswagen van. Both vehicles were left badly damaged.
A 50-year-old man who was a passenger in the Civic suffered shoulder and chest injuries and was taken to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
A police spokesman said his injuries were not life-threatening.
The road was closed while the vehicles were recovered which, according to police, took up until 6pm.
