What has happened?

Derbyshire police say two cars were involved in a 'serious collision' at about 7.25am today. No information on the type of vehicles involved has yet been released.

Where did it happen?

Codnor Lane, Riddings, near the Golden Valley caravan site.

Has anyone gone to hospital?

Two people went to Queen's Medical Centre - one of whom has serious injuries. Two other people went to King's Mill Hospital.

What roads are closed?

The road is closed between Codnor Gate business park and Coach Road crossroads. Police say the roads will be closed for a number of hours.

Who has attended the crash scene?

Firefighters from Alfreton and Heanor, police, the air ambulance as well paramedics from East Midlands Ambulance Service.

What have the police said?

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Roads Police said: "We are in attendance at this serious collision. A full forensic collision investigation is underway so we expect the road to be closed for a number of hours. Find a different route."
