Staff and students at Selston High School are celebrating after being graded as good with many outstanding features in their latest Ofsted report.

The report, released following an inspection on February 5 and 6, started that students make good progress in a range of subjects.

Inspectors also found that students are respectful to each other and the large majority of teaching is good, with some being outstanding.

The school was renamed in September 2012 and had previously never received the good grading.

Headteacher Kevin Gaiderman said the whole school was pleased with the report.

He added: “We are delighted to be able to celebrate our new status as a good school.

“The progress we have made during the past two years has been exceptional and I would like to thank the staff, governors, parents and of course the students in achieving this g rade.

“It comes at a time when the benchmark for becoming a good school has risen to it’s highest ever level under a really tough inspection framework.”
