See plans to stem floods

PLANS to cut flooding by upgrading parts of a sewerage network in an area prone to the problem will go on show next week.

Yorkshire Water customers can learn about the project for North Wingfield at North Wingfield Community Resource Centre, Whiteleas Avenue, on Monday 28 November between 4pm–7pm.

Work to install two giant underground storage tanks to collect more than two million litres of storm water during wet weather, and hold it until it is safe for it to be released back into the local network, begins in the area in December.

It is expected to be finished by July 2012 with small sections of Williamthorpe Road closed for three or two week periods.
