THE story of the Peak District comes to life, in a musical performance inspired by the landscape of the UK’s first national park.
The award-winning group, Mark Gwynne Jones and the Psychicbread have created a visual poetic drama, to be performed in the place that inspired it - the Peak Cavern in Castleton.
The performance is part of an ongoing series of works commissioned by Glassball Art Projects to write, record and showcase lyrical works based on the landscape of the Peak District.
From reflections on a B29 bomber that crashed in the High Peak, to the compelling story of the last gibbet in Derbyshire and how it was a poet who ended the grisly practice – this new collection of lyrical works enhanced by the music, percussions and vocals of Psychicbread is inspired by some of the region’s most outstanding locations.
Mark Gwynne Jones and the Psychicbread will stage ‘A Lyric in Limestone’on July 16 from 8pm to 9pm. £9. Tickets are £9 (child £6, concessions £8) and available from the Buxton Opera House Box Office on 0845 127 2190 or online at www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk/whats-on/lyric-in-limestone
