Search for hidden talent

A new competition is aiming to find hidden talen from across the region.

Entries are being sought for the contest which will be held at Vicar Lane, Chesterfield, with heats scheduled for Saturday, July 18, and Sunday, July 19 and the final on Sunday, July 27.

The event will be hosted by Chesterfield College, Donut Creative Arts Studio (DCAS) and Vicar Lane Shopping Centre.

Kerrie Robertson from Chesterfield College said: “Chesterfield College are really excited to be part of this new venture. Let’s hope we can all play a major part in developing more community events within the town.”

Anyone interested in taking part can download an application form from any of the websites of the hosts.

Donut Creative Arts Studio (DCAS), which encourages participation in arts and performance of young people, will be providing the staging and technical considerations.

Martyn Stonehouse from DCAS said: “It will be great to see some live entertainment in the town centre and we’re very passionate about developing arts and performance opportunities in the community. Hopefully it will be the first of many exciting competitions and events”.

The deadline for entries is July 9.

The winner and two runners up will receive Vicar Lane Shopping Vouchers, tickets to the opening night of Rock n Roll Heaven courtesy of Chesterfield Theatres and the opportunity to appear in this year’s Chesterfest on Saturday, August 9.
