Safety advice issued as Chesterfield police continue to probe 'serious sex attack'

Safety advice has been issued as police continue to investigate an alleged serious sex attack in Chesterfield.

A 26-year-old woman told officers she was assaulted in an alleyway which leads between Corporation Street and Tapton Lane at about 2am last Saturday.

The woman was on a night out in the town.

No arrests have been made but police are continuing to investigate and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to call them on 101.

Advice has also been issued to party-goers over the Easter weekend.

A police spokesman said: "Drink responsibly and safety.

"Be prepared - book a taxi before you go out and keep your fare separate from your purse or wallet.

"Look out for your friends - if someone you know has consumed too much alcohol make sure they get home safely and that someone can monitor them once they are home."
