A roundabout way to promote business in the Dales

Businesses are being invited to make the most of the Derbyshire Dales’ busiest roads – in a roundabout way!

Derbyshire Dales District Council, which maintains some roundabouts in the beautiful Dales, is inviting potential sponsors to bid to put their name on a total of five traffic islands in Ashbourne and Matlock, plus a variety of flowerbeds across the area.

Sponsorships will run from 1 October this year until the end of March 2017 and reserve prices for the bidding range from £450 to £2,500.

The roadside sites are the three A52 roundabouts in Ashbourne (Derby Road, A515 and Mayfield Road), and, in Matlock, the Causeway Lane/Steep Turnpike mini island and main A6 roundabout, plus the car park in front on the Town Hall.

Applications can be made online at www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/tenderops or, for more information, contact the District Council on 01629 761392 or email [email protected].

The district council reserves the right to reject inappropriate advertisements, including alcohol, tobacco, unhealthy food or unhealthy lifestyles, weaponry, racism, messages of a sexual nature or promotion of political parties.

Chairman of the district council’s environment committee, Cllr Steve Bull, said: “This is a win-win situation that potentially helps local businesses get their message across to our residents and some of the 6.9-million people who visit the beautiful Dales every year, while helping us to continue to fund the excellent floral displays we plant to keep this district looking so fabulous all year round.

“Sponsors of roundabouts and flowerbeds in the Derbyshire Dales can promote their company name, logo and website and are also able to highlight a specific product or service.”
