Robber punches woman in face

Police are appealing for information about an attempted robbery on a park in Alfreton.

At about 11.20am on Tuesday, a 44-year-old woman was walking through Grange Park when a man walking in the opposite direction tried to grab her handbag.

The woman kept hold of her bag and the man then punched the victim in her face before running off empty-handed. He left in the direction of Grange Street.

The victim suffered redness and swelling to her face.

The offender is described as white, around 5ft 9in tall, in his late 20s, and wearing black jogging bottoms, a grey hooded jumper and a black baseball cap.
