RIPLEY: Rotary Club-run talent contest won by Street dancer Tommy Lee, alias Nobonez

Amber Valley’s Got Talent Competition, organised and run by the Rotary Club of Ripley, was hailed as a great success, raising over £1,200 to be shared equally between the East Midlands Air Ambulance and the Rainbows Hospice for children and young adults.

The three date event was held at the Ripley Junior School and had 16 high quality acts taking part in the Grand Final.

Street dancer Tommy Lee, aka Nobonez, won the first prize of £300, runners-up were boy and girl duo Page and Elliot on vocal and guitar, who won £200, and the third placed entry was vocalist Charlotte Clifton who won £100.

The prizes were presented by president of the Rotary Club Ripley Marie Adams.

The judges were Daniel Ball, music and drama student and last year’s winner of A.V.G.T., Vernon Lathwell, guitarist and lead singer with the “Strangers” rock and roll band, Christine Richards, musician and musical director of Musical Dimensions, Marie Jackson. musician and music and drama teacher. Compere for the competition was Rotarian Stuart Rice.

The Rotary Club of Ripley has expressed thanks to local businesses for their sponsorship of the competition.
