The Rotary Club of Ripley welcomed special guest Dominica Pradere of Lucea, Jamaica. Dominica, a member of Montego Bay Rotary club, was visiting friends in Ripley and exchanging news with club members.
She outlined her club’s plans for community projects in north-west Jamaica and also gave an account of her first visit to the Rotary International Convention held this year in Lisbon. Highlights of the convention included opportunities to meet Rotarians from all parts of the world, and hear of the progress of Rotary International’s campaign ”Polio Plus”, which has resulted on polio being eliminated from all countries except three.
Another visitor on the evening was Dr Roger Summers of Amber Valley Rotary Club, who spoke of his hopes for continuing contact between the clubs of Ripley, Amber Valley and Montego Bay area.
President Paul Rose thanked Dominica and Roger, and wished Dominica a good flight home.
