Ribbonwalk set to return to the Peak District

This year take a step forward for people affected by breast cancer and take part in Breast Cancer Care's Pink Ribbonwalk when it returns to the Peak District in June.

The charity is inviting women, men and children to sign up now and start training for a five, ten or 20 mile walk in Bakewell on June 3, to help Breast Cancer Care be there for the thousands of people diagnosed with the most common cancer in the UK.

More than 600 people in Derbyshire will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year and all funds raised at the Pink Ribbonwalks enable the charity to provide care, support and information to them from day one.

Emma Claridge, Pink Ribbonwalk manager for Breast Cancer Care, said: “We are so excited to return to Bakewell in June. The walkers at last year’s event, including women with a diagnosis, raised more than £130,000 for women, men, family and friends affected by breast cancer.

“We’re expecting this year’s event to be even more popular and are looking forward to welcoming new walkers and familiar faces. We’ll have cheering stations at various points along the route and remember, men can walk too so the whole family can take part – there’s no excuse for dads, sons, uncles and grandpas to wait at the finish line!”

Walkers will enjoy winding riverside trails and stunning views of the Derbyshire Dales and historic Chatsworth estate.

They will be invited to write a personal message on a ribbon, which can be added to the ribbon tunnel, and will also receive a celebratory medal at the finish.

Emma added: “Sign up for the Pink Ribbonwalk using the code BAKE5 and you’ll not only get 20 per cent off your entry fee but you will help Breast Cancer Care to support people from the moment they notice something isn’t right, through to their treatment and beyond.

“Breast Cancer Care is here to help people affected.”
