Review: Peter Pan by Manor Operatic Society at Sheffield City Hall

There are plenty of challenges to putting on a good panto - oh yes there are.

Particularly when you are am dram stars and all have ‘normal’ jobs as well as the pressure to delight Sheffield City Hall when it is packed full of the highest expectations. The crowd that devotedly turns up to boo, hiss and cheer Manor Operatic’s annual panto knows exactly what it wants - to such an extent they bring their own missiles for the famous baking scene.

Then there is the infamous bucket game which sees virtually every child in the audience rushing onto the stage to take part. But the bottom line is always great fun, old-fashioned, over-the-top and sparklingly wonderful entertainment.

The Lost Boys did a great job of showing their budding talent, Peter Pan and Wendy fly with the best of them and all the cast can be very proud to have pulled off yet another great Sheffield panto.

The puns are up-to-the-minute, the costumes spectacular and the jokes keep on rolling - children young, old and very old throughly enjoyed it. Peter Pan keeps flying at Sheffield City Hall until January 4.
