Walton Hospital’s John Hart has been named Volunteer of the Year 2015 in the Extra Mile Awards of Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust.

Walton Hospital’s John Hart has been named Volunteer of the Year 2015 in the Extra Mile Awards of Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust.

John, who lives at Stanfree, near Bolsover, has been helping out at the hospital’s specialist falls clinic regularly for the past seven years.

Retired physiotherapist John, 69, joins in with the exercise groups, offering support, humour and compassion.

Physiotherapist Karen Read, one of those who nominated him, said: “ John takes the time to get to know the individuals and goes the extra mile to offer friendly and supportive words of advice.”
