Residents invited to set policing priorities

People living in Hathersage area can have their say on what issues their local police team tackle by going to a meeting next week.

Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Team is hosting its quarterly governance meeting at the police office in Netherside, Bradwell.

At the meeting, residents will be able to tell police and staff from partner agencies what issues there are in their neighbourhoods.

The officers will then set a policing priority which they will tackle for the following three months.

The current priorities for Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Team are speeding in villages across the area and promoting Derbyshire Alert, the force’s free messaging service.

Next week’s meeting will take place between 2pm and 4pm on Friday, September 27.

Sergeant Andy Wordsworth, who leads the team, said: “These meetings are a great way for people to come and tell us the problems they are having.

“We can then figure out the best way to fix those problems and make sure our area remains safe from crime and anti-social behaviour.

“We really do rely on the input from people so I’d like to see as many local residents there as possible, to make sure we are focusing on what matters most to them.”
